It's more than a game. If you want to learn about the American culture, visit the USA in the Super Bowl week. Learn about the brand Starbucks, visit Seattle and sit a day in a Starbucks store...than you know.
27.01.2013 - 03.02.2013
This week I watched and learned about football, American Sports Entertainment and the culture of the USA.
1. Football: A strategical game where other sports (soccer) could learn from. Learning: if you are passionate and ambitious in your work, than look at other branches. It will benefit your creativity at your own branch.
2. Sports entertainment: If you want to create attention on a big audience, use extreme targeted entertainment (Football, Artists (Beyonce), commercials).
3. Culture: It uses emotional and painful experiences (School shootings, soldiers in Afghanistan, people with diseases) to make hero's which create nationalism in the USA.
This week I read a book about the brand Starbucks. I visited a Starbucks store and talked with different people. Why are they visiting Starbucks and no other coffee store? "It's a place where you connect with your friends, family or work at a peaceful place. Ow and they have great coffee!" Because I really wanted to experience the brand, I bought and drunk the coffee. Unfortunately..I still don't like coffee...
This week I received two invitations for dinner in the weekend. No unfortunately not a romantic diner... First I showed my own skills and made stampot at our house in West Seattle. Of course everyone loved it. On Saturday night I was invited by a attorney named Gary (see last blog). His wife had cooked a great diner in a great, atmospheric house. The whole evening we talked about "life". Best quote? You can't catch up a day in your life, so don't postpone your plans.
At Super Bowl evening I was invited by my friend Silverio. We watched the game and his mum made some delicious Mexican diner.
The first meeting this week was at bar/restaurant West 5 with owner Dave Montoure. He runs a nice restaurant at West Seattle.
Learning: create a visual branding structure to have a inspirational guide in your business goals and to your employees.
The second meeting was with marketer and writer Angela Eloise. Nowadays she is a writer and worked at different marketing positions in the past. Divide your branding structure in intangible departments (packaging, customer service, marketing etc.).
It was a nice week where I played soccer with my Mexican friends, saw a couple of old American friends and had one day with a little sun. (Yes it rains a lot in Seattle.)That day I took a walk and enjoyed the bay of West Seattle at a nice seat. Coming Thursday I will travel in a 4 hour bus trip to Portland (Oregon).
